The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that he was learning politics from President Bola Tinubu.
Yilwatda stated this on Saturday during his conferment with a traditional title, “Kaeh-rit,” meaning “the good seed of Ampang East,” in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Speaking after the event, Yilwatda said his political development has been influenced by President Tinubu, whom he described as one of Nigeria’s finest political leaders.
“I’m learning from the best leader, Asiwaju Tinubu. Mr President is one of the best politicians you can learn from, and since adopting me as his son, I’ve learned so much from him.
“He is teaching me, and so I’m learning. If you see me succeeding, it’s because I’m learning from the very best politician ever produced in Nigeria. So why not? I will work towards achieving what he has done, also being one of the best politicians in Nigeria,” Yilwatda said.
As part of activities marking the occasion, the APC chairman donated ₦10 million, seedlings, and other agricultural inputs to farmers in Kanke LGA to boost food production.
He said the gesture aligns with Tinubu’s agenda to enhance food security and reduce poverty.
Yilwatda also expressed optimism that Plateau State would witness increased development following Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s recent defection to the APC, noting that harmony between government and party structures would be beneficial.
He stressed that the APC operates an open and inclusive system where all members enjoy equal rights, regardless of when they joined the party.
“The person who comes into the APC today has equal rights with someone who has been there for a thousand years, because we do not differentiate among our members.
“Some people claim that when you go to a party, they will say they are the original owners because they have been there for many years.
“We don’t have that in APC. As the government steps in with its supporters, we will have one single family that will work together for the benefit of Plateau.
“The essence of this is that the national budget and local government structures will align so that all our systems, from the national level down to the grassroots, are structured for the benefit of the people of Plateau,” he said.
The title was the second traditional honour received by the APC chairman in less than two weeks, following a recent recognition by the Tiv Nation in Benue State for his humanitarian contributions.
