Bamigbetan receives City People Special Recognition in Politics Award

Frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives, Oshodi-Isolo II, Lagos State, Kehinde Bamigbetan, has received a Special Recognition in Politics Award from CityPeople, the popular society magazine.

Announcing the award, City People’s publisher Seye Kehinde said the newspaper’s selection committee found Bamigbetan worthy following a review of his political activities in the students’ union, labour union, local government, and state.

His words: ” On behalf of the management of City People Magazine, I write to inform you that you have been nominated for the Special Recognition Award in Politics”

Presenting the award in the magazine’s boardroom on Monday, May 11, 2026, Kehinde extolled Bamigbetan’s approach to politics, noting that it is driven by intellectual analysis, popular engagement and strategic communications.

The presentation was followed by a comprehensive interview with Bamigbetan on his bid for the House of Representatives, his chances in the May 18, 2026, primaries, and the performance of the Tinubu administration.

Bamigbetan commended Tinubu’s administration for fulfilling its electoral promises to Nigerians even though it necessitated tough decisions.

He said he deserved to win and fly the party’s ticket, having stepped down in 2015 and 2023 to allow incumbent members of the House of Representatives to run on the party’s platform.

“I am ready for the party primaries. I was ready to win in 2015 and 2023 before I was persuaded to step down so the incumbents could run for a second term. I have recharged and retrofitted my political. machinery and I am more formidable than ever.” He said.

Bamigbetan, a former Public Relations Officer of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Students’ Union, was until recently the Special Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

Bamigbetan was a former Chief Press Secretary to President Bola Tinubu when he was Lagos State Governor, former chairman of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, and Commissioner for Information & Strategy in Lagos State.
