Salvador Quits Labour Party, Moves 400k Members to ADC

Moshood Salvador quits Labour Party with over 400,000 supporters, joining ADC as he brands LP hopeless and backs a fresh coalition in Lagos politics

Moshood Salvador, once the Labour Party’s senatorial candidate in Lagos West during the 2023 elections, has officially moved to the African Democratic Congress. His decision came with strong criticism of the Labour Party, which he dismissed as a party with no real future in Nigerian politics — www.naijnaira.com reports.

During the 25th anniversary of his political movement, Conscience Forum, held in Surulere, Salvador publicly declared his switch, saying the ADC offered Nigerians a stronger alternative. According to The Punch, he revealed that the entire forum, with over 400,000 members across Lagos, had decided to cross over with him.

“Labour Party has no future, hence the decision to move. We have resolved to join ADC as the symbol of a new coalition that will give Nigerians hope,” Salvador boldly said while addressing the gathering.

He stressed that the decision wasn’t just personal but unanimously backed by the forum’s state executives, making it a full-scale transition into ADC.

Former Osun governor and ADC National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, welcomed Salvador and his loyalists, describing the development as a major boost for the party ahead of elections.

“APC has failed Nigerians in every sector. What we need now is a political movement that prioritises people’s welfare above personal interest. ADC is that party,” Aregbesola stated.

ADC’s Lagos Organising Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Ogidi, also praised the move, noting that the defection strengthens the party’s chances of gaining influence in Lagos politics.

Chief John Uche, ex-leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, added that the Igbo community in the state is ready to work hand-in-hand with ADC to push for success.
