Former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has announced his retirement from active politics, citing a growing “allergy” to the rigors of political activities.

The former chairman launched 20 copies of the book for 1 million Naira, saying, “I am not only a retiree, but I am out of politics. I’m beginning to develop a little allergy to political activities and political speeches. So, forgive me, I will not make any political statement beyond asking for more support for the state’s governor.”
“He needs all your prayers and goodwill to succeed,” he added.
Adamu, in July, resigned as chairman of the APC.

Some of the APC presidential aspirants in the last election were former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Ahmad Sani Yarima, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, Dr Nicolas Felix, and Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Others are Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Gov. Yahaya Bello, Engr. Dave Umahi, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, Senators Ahmad Lawan and Godswill Akpabio.
This was contained in a statement by convener and acting chairman of the forum, Senator Yarima as well as APC’s youngest presidential presidential aspirant, Dr Nicholas Felix, on Saturday.
According to the statement, all former aspirants of the APC have also dropped their presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
It added that those who were earlier nursing a presidential ambition ahead of 2027 have agreed to support President Tinubu for a second term in office.
“Because we are committed to the success of President Tinubu and his administration, all members who hitherto had Presidential aspirations have all agreed to drop such even ahead of 2027 so as to pave a smooth sail for President Tinubu to seek a second tenure. This project we are already working on and will leave no stone unturned.
“This forum will also take steps to see how to reach out to Presidential candidates of all other political parties for a harmonious working relationship in the interest of the development of the country as we believe that electioneering periods are over and it is time for all hands to be on deck,” the statement added.
The group has also planned a dinner scheduled for next week to convey their message to President Tinubu.

He downplayed the incident, describing it as a “show of humanity” and attributing it to fatigue compounded by the stress of the event. He stated, “What eventually happened after the event was a show of humanity. I went home and I called my doctors and I was assured that I had malaria, mingled with stress, which could also be described in another way as exhaustion.”
“Anybody could be exhausted. Please, drink water daily so that you don’t get exhausted.
“This is to say that the work goes on. I want to assure Nigerians that the National Assembly is intact and we are still going on with our duty, our appropriation.
“We will resume on 20th December. But before then, the various committees must have finished their work to enable us to meet the target to pass the budget before the end of the year for the president to append his signature.”
Akpabio assured Nigerians that the Senate remains operational and on schedule to pass the national budget before the end of the year. He confirmed the resumption of legislative activities on December 20th and also said committees need to finalize their work before the deadline.

The governor’s statement comes after nine members of his cabinet resigned and 27 members of the state assembly defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The state government responded to the defection by ordering the demolition of the Assembly Complex, citing the need to rebuild a suitable structure after an “arson attack” on October 29, 2023.
According to reports, the defecting lawmakers are being supported by the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and immediate-past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike. The governor and the FCT minister are allegedly in a battle over the control of the state’s political structure.
