“‘He’s Not My Dad Anymore’: Heartbreaking Stories Of Families Torn Apart By The Cult Of Trump Will Leave You Speechless”

It’s heartbreaking how politics, especially support for Donald Trump, has torn families apart. People are losing parents, siblings, and lifelong friends to conspiracy theories, anger, and a completely different way of seeing the world.

One person shared how their father used to be someone they admired, but now he’s consumed by Fox News and fear. Family gatherings turn ugly because he can’t stop insulting his own kids, calling them “Dumbacrats.” It’s gotten so bad that nobody wants to spend holidays together anymore. The worst part? He doesn’t even realize how much he’s pushing his family away.

Others talked about parents who were once kind and open-minded but now repeat racist talking points and wild conspiracy theories. Even though these parents are financially secure—traveling the world and living comfortably—they’ve convinced themselves that the country is falling apart. Their obsession with politics has cost them relationships with their children and grandchildren.

Some tried for years to reason with their loved ones, only to realize it was pointless. One person said their mom would spread false information online, and when corrected, she’d say, *”It doesn’t matter if it’s not true—what it represents is true!”* Another described how their mother joined online groups where people joked about running over immigrants with trucks. After that, they couldn’t look at her the same way again.

For many, cutting ties was the only option. One man stopped seeing his father because every visit was filled with racist rants and bizarre conspiracy theories. He finally told his dad, *”If you can’t respect my boundaries, then you’ll just have to spend your Sundays alone with YouTube.”*

Others have lost entire friend groups. One person said 90% of the people they used to be close to now believe in things like weather control conspiracies. The irony? Those same people call *them* brainwashed.

The most painful stories are from people whose families now treat Trump like a religious figure. One person’s parents truly believe Trump was sent by God and that anyone who opposes him is working for Satan. It sounds like a joke, but for them, it’s real—and it’s destroyed their relationships.

At the core of all these stories is grief. People aren’t just losing family members to politics—they’re mourning the people those family members used to be. The saddest part? Many don’t see any way back. Once someone falls that deep into anger and misinformation, it’s nearly impossible to pull them out.

Have you experienced something similar? It’s a painful situation that more and more people are facing. Sometimes, walking away is the only way to protect your own peace.
