That Senate’s Motion On “Let the Poor Breathe”

The theatre of the absurd has long begun in Edo State, as a media pundit, I have taken a vantage point to practically xray the arguments of the eagle and the stallion as to the personality that truly fits into the equation that will proffer a solution to the problems of the Edo people in these desperate times. I have seen torrents of salacious and scurrilous tales flying around, fake and false testimonies of aspirants everywhere. Social media is unnecessarily agog and awash with moonlight tales of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Trust me, it will get uglier because there are intemperate brats in the terrain who are very savvy in the discharge of junk to the airways and sadly, Nigerians generally love junk.

After the 2020 gubernatorial election in Edo State that was somewhat if not messy, to the extent that my life was put in line, where I saw the true shenanigans of people in power and money, I vowed to stay on my lane. Things got so bad that I simply gave up and said if Edo State will collapse, let it collapse, after all, it will collapse on all of us if it must. Any independent and impartial observer will have equally concluded and accepted my fate because the election system of Nigeria does not seem to be improving after the countless frantic efforts made by successive administrations to reform and rejig the system, it’s been like the going, and the coming that goes on forever as the poet Christopher Okigbo asserted in his work.

But I have decided to take the hardest decision in my life’s journey to return to the trenches not just because I am involved in mankind, but because, paradoxically, I have found myself to be so endeared to the upright pedigree and the ineffability of the pragmatist called Emmanuel Usoh, the Edo Central born veteran political icon from Uzea, in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. There is no gainsaying the fact that the collective destiny of the Edo people currently rests on the shoulder of this ebullient and rarefied personality.

In every generation, there are saints and seers, what is lacking are listening people, which is why despite all the profound warnings we sounded before the advent of the behemoth Governor Obaseki, no one listened to us. I knew that all efforts that were later made to oust him from Osadebe Avenue were derivatives of the afterthoughts, and critical minds knew that it will fail as it did.
That is why we are warning again right now.

The argument as to where and how the next Edo Governor will emerge will misrepresent my personality because it is incontestable that it is the turn of Edo Central to produce the next Governor of Edo State. My concern is the discovery of the cosmopolitan patriarchal man with confidence and mien of excellence, who will steer the ship of state and inspire the people for a prosperous Edo State and this is where Emmanuel Usoh has carried the day.

Emmanuel Usoh, Esq is a clergy and legal practitioner specializing in commercial transactions, criminal litigation, and Election petitions. He is a public analyst with a Masters’s degree in Law and currently, he’s a doctoral candidate at the University of Benin.

He is an alumnus of the Manchester Business School of the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He was one-time Acting Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service and a former Commissioner of Wealth Creation, Cooperative, and Employment.

Also, he’s a Notary Public, an Arbitrator of the United Kingdom and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, a Member of the Institute of Management, a prolific writer, and a philanthropist. He is married with children. He sits on some Boards of private Universities as a man whose hands are on the plow.

Emmanuel Usoh Esq. is not learning the rope, he’s a hardworking individual who has paid his dues surplus to requirement in the politics of Nigeria and especially in Edo State his homestead. Like the acupuncture needle, he reserves the perspicacity to surge the challenges bedeviling the state and reclaim Edo State for the great people of Edo State. This is the way to go as we are warning again.
