PETALING JAYA: Five new clusters have been detected in the country with Labuan seeing an increase in cases due to a new cluster reported, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Dr Noor Hisham said Labuan recorded 105 new cases, of which 91 were from known clusters while 57 were from a new cluster dubbed as the Tenaga cluster.
“The increase in Covid-19 cases in Labuan is due to the targeted screening on the ground. The community screening conducted in Jalan Tenaga, Labuan detected 57 positive Covid-19 cases today,” he said during his press briefing on Monday (Nov 2).
Dr Noor Hisham added that the Tenaga cluster was identified from the Batu Arang sub-zone in Labuan from a targeted screening of a high-risk community on Nov 2.
“All positive cases have been admitted to the Labuan Hospital,” he said.
As of noon on Monday, Dr Noor Hisham said 103 individuals were screened in this cluster, adding that 57 individuals tested positive while 46 individuals were still waiting for their results.
On Sabah, Dr Noor Hisham said the PTS Tawau cluster was found in Tawau and added that the index case was detected from a symptomatic screening of an individual on Oct 5.
“A total of 1,671 individuals had been screened with 104 tested positive while 1,567 individuals are still waiting for their results,” he said.
On the Gedong cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said it involves the areas of Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau, Negri Sembilan; Petaling, Selangor; Johor Baru, Johor and in Putrajaya.
He noted that the index case of this cluster was detected from a symptomatic screening of an individual on Oct 27, adding that the individual has been admitted to the Rembau Hospital.
A total of 61 individuals had been screened in this cluster, with 12 tested positive, 19 negative, and 30 still waiting for their results.
Dr Noor Hisham added that the Wisma Saberkas cluster was detected in Kuching, Sarawak where the index case was identified from a symptomatic individual screening on Oct 30.
He said that the individual has since been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital.
He added 130 individuals in this cluster have been screened and that eight have tested positive, 10 negative, and 112 others are still waiting for their results.
Dr Noor Hisham said that for the Seridana cluster that was detected in Putrajaya, the index case was also detected from a symptomatic individual screening on Oct 31.
“A total of 31 individuals have been screened, with five tested positive while 26 others still waiting for their results,” he said, adding that all positive cases have been admitted to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also said the Sungai cluster involving Kedah and Perlis has ended.
“As of Nov 2,25,406 people were screened. Of this, 101 tested positive, and 25,305 tested negative. The positivity rate for this cluster is 0.4% and one death was reported,” he said.
